Spoken Word

Time: 11.30am O’Connell St. Cultural Quarter.

Waterford Writers are calling all lovers of literature to join us at the spoken word arena for some poetry, storytelling and even a cúpla focal, all performers are local artists and recitals will be interspersed with lively music. It’s the perfect way to start your festival Saturday.

Deise Medieval

Time: 12pm-5pm

Come visit the Deise Medieval Viking reenactment in The Garden Room of the Medieval Museum. It’s the perfect opportunity to mingle with our ancestors from times long past.

Playful Streets John Robert’s

Time: 12pm-5pm

Come to John Robert’s Square for some family fun activities from Playful Streets and Healthy Waterford

Southeast Craft Studios Art and Craft Workshop

Inspired by Irish carvings and spiralling Celtic designs like the ones found at the ancient heritage site of Newgrange and in the Book of Kells – we invite you to explore copper wire and simple jewellery making techniques. Create a famous Celtic knot that can be worn for St. Patrick’s Weekend or used as a beautiful bookmark. No cover charge but booking is essential!

Soldiers, Saints and Scholars Walking Tour

Time: 1pm

Join Johnny Codd for a walking tour exploring local connections to our national public holiday. Meet at Reginald’s Tower 1pm

Urban Greenway Self-Guided Tour

As a ‘city of light’ Waterford offers a unique experience to view historical monuments and city walls illuminated in green. Take a nighttime tour of the ‘urban greenway’ and discover the history behind some of Waterford’s most famous landmarks.

City Centre Fairground

John Robert’s Square 
A range of fairground attractions and amusements will be situated in the city centre for the duration of the festival and if you’re hungry you can get a taste of Waterford and try some authentic local produce from a wide range of food stalls in John Robert’s Square. Get your face painted or have some fun with Ready Steady Play.

Waterford Centre of Music

2pm – 4pm John Robert’s Square 
Waterford Centre of Music will showcase the finest up and coming local talent from 2pm and from 3pm you can enjoy the melodies and harmonies of WCMs youth choir.

Waterford Youth Bands

2pm – 5pm O’Connell St. Cultural Quarter
Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí. It promises to be an afternoon of youthful exuberance in the Cultural Quarter with Kai Bartels-Shortt at 2pm, Ivory Tusk at 3pm and last but not least Gooby Tippers take the stage at 4pm.

Drumming Workshop

2pm Applemarket
Lots of noise, lots of beats, lots of fun. More info to follow.

Pat Cooney

5pm -6.30pm Applemarket
Pat Cooney has been in the business for several decades. The Lead singer from the 90s band Magnum can play both lead and rhythm guitar. His favourite genres include folk, rock, country and pop. For St. Patrick’s Festival expect some well-loved traditional Irish numbers at this show.

The Knockadollys Big Band are a Traditional Irish outfit known for their infectious energy and loud sound, The Knockadollys seamlessly blend traditional music with a fresh, dynamic energy. Perfect for anyone who loves to dance, sing, and celebrate the spirit of Irish heritage with a modern flair!

Divorce Party

Divorce Party are a Waterford based cover band established in 2022. They have become a  regular feature at festivals and live music events never failing to entertain with a classic mixture of rock, pop, funk, and folk, 

Serena Terry Therapy

Theatre Royal 8pm

Park your worries at the door and strap in for a night of honest hilarity that’ll leave tears of laughter streaming down your face, providing a little bit of your own therapy in return.

Blowtorch Boogie

Applemarket 7pm – 10pm

Blowtorch Boogie is a high-octane collision of traditional music, modern beats, and a spectacular fire performance — a show that burns bright, hits hard, and leaves audiences buzzing long after the final spark fades. The festival runs for four fun-filled days, typically starting before St. Patrick's Day. 

Events and activities generally run throughout the day and into the evening.

  • Day 1 (Friday): Events usually kick off in the evening, with walking tours and ticketed performances starting around 6:30 pm and live music continuing late.
  • Day 2 & 3 (Saturday & Sunday): Daytime activities, workshops, and markets often start around 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Live music and street performances continue through the afternoon and into the evening.

Day 4 (Monday – St. Patrick's Day): The main St. Patrick's Day Parade starts at 1:00 pm sharp. Daytime workshops and the city fairground typically begin around 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
