Spoken Word

Time: 11am

With Waterford Writers Waterford Cultural Quarter.
Calling all lovers of literature, join us at the spoken word arena for some poetry, storytelling and even a cúpla focal, all performers are local artists and recitals will be interspersed with lively music. It’s the perfect way to start your festival Saturday.

Deise Medieval

Time: 12pm-5pm

Watch out for the Deise Medieval reenactment in Waterford’s Viking Triangle. It’s the perfect opportunity to mingle with our ancestors from times long past.

Playful Streets John Robert’s

Time: 12pm-5pm

Come to John Robert’s Square for some family fun activities from Playful Streets and Healthy Waterford

Southeast Craft Studios Art and Craft Workshop

Soldiers, Saints and Scholars Walking Tour

Paschal Fire Show

Time: John Robert’s Square 8pm 

St. Patrick challenged royal authority by lighting the Paschal fire on the hill Slane on the night of Easter Eve. This unique piece of Irish heritage comes alive with an unforgettable outdoor spectacle of fire, music, dance, and light!

Electrad Applemarket

This recently launched four piece female band offer a fresh blend of Irish traditional music and high-energy EDM beats. This mix of Irish sound with a modern twist could is not to be missed.

Serena Terry Therapy

Theatre Royal 8pm

Park your worries at the door and strap in for a night of honest hilarity that’ll leave tears of laughter streaming down your face, providing a little bit of your own therapy in return.

Urban Greenway Self-Guided Tour

As a ‘city of light’ Waterford offers a unique experience to view historical monuments and city walls illuminated in green. Take a nighttime tour of the ‘urban greenway’ and discover the history behind some of Waterford’s most famous landmarks.

City Centre Fairground

Time: John Robert’s Square 
A range of fairground attractions and amusements will be situated in the city centre for the duration of the festival and if you’re hungry you can get a taste of Waterford and try some authentic local produce from a wide range of food stalls in John Robert’s Square.

The city is easily accessible for families to enjoy the festivities. We are here to help, with any questions.

The festival runs for four fun-filled days, typically starting before St. Patrick's Day. 

Events and activities generally run throughout the day and into the evening.

  • Day 1 (Friday): Events usually kick off in the evening, with walking tours and ticketed performances starting around 6:30 pm and live music continuing late.
  • Day 2 & 3 (Saturday & Sunday): Daytime activities, workshops, and markets often start around 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Live music and street performances continue through the afternoon and into the evening.

Day 4 (Monday – St. Patrick's Day): The main St. Patrick's Day Parade starts at 1:00 pm sharp. Daytime workshops and the city fairground typically begin around 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
